ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, home to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Television and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Radio, offers internships at its headquarters in the historic Asylum Hill neighborhood of Hartford, at Fairfield University, and at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Radio's New Haven Bureau at Gateway Community College. Remote internships are also possible.
Interns who completed the program at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø have gone on to careers at A&E, NPR, ESPN, HEARST, Frontline, Yale, Bain & Company, BlueSky Productions, Dreamworks, USAID, Upright Citizens Brigade, and PBS & NPR member stations, just to name a few. Plus, our interns now serve as working filmmakers, animators, performers, professors, lawyers, and entrepreneurs.
From day one, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø interns are given real-world, hands-on responsibilities. Working alongside top professionals in the field, interns accomplish meaningful work in our radio, news, marketing, and digital departments. The goal of our internship program is to provide interns with a substantive, meaningful work experience so that each intern concludes their time with the Company honing in on demonstrable skills in his/her area of interest, plus knowledge of public radio, in general. Who should apply?
We are looking for students and recent graduates who are intelligent, creative, and curious. Candidates don't need to know everything about news or public radio, but it helps to be at least a little familiar. And, it doesn't hurt to love our flagship programs, like Where We Live, NEXT or The Colin McEnroe Show have a passing knowledge on our newer shows: Audacious, Disrupted, or Seasoned.

How are interns selected?
Selections are based on a number of factors, including the following general criteria:
- Relevant qualifications and education
- Academic record
- Goals and career interests
Additionally, we typically seek out individuals who demonstrate strong writing skills, thrive independently, and take initiative. We would like our interns to have astute interpersonal skills that allow them to work well on cross-functional teams and with diverse populations. It's also important that the intern have either an educational or work background that aligns with the functions and responsibilities of the internship.

Current resume
Minimum of two professional or academic letters of reference/recommendation.
Optional: A brief (1-2 page) writing sample and/or link to an online portfolio
Optional: A personal statement outlining the reasons for applying to a particular internship and what you hope to achieve with the learning.
After the department begins reviewing applications, the applicable Hiring Manager will contact applicants of interest directly for telephone screening and/or an in-person/virtual interview. Applicants might be initially contacted via telephone, through e-mail or even text messages. Make sure to check your spam folder as in some cases e-mails can be filtered by your service provider.
Although all applications are reviewed, only those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be contacted for further consideration.
Our fall internship window is currently closed. Fall internships are 8-weeks and run from late-September to mid-November. Please check back with us in July of 2025 for intern openings and thanks for your interest!
