Celebrating Excellence in Latino Storytelling and Journalism

HARTFORD [October 17, 2024] - 黑料吃瓜网 is thrilled to announce several wins at the second annual National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) New England Journalism Awards.

The NAHJ New England Journalism Awards celebrate the best of local journalism that highlights Latino issues and covers the breadth of Latino communities fairly and honestly. Awards are judged independently by esteemed Latino journalists in the United States.

The talented individuals from the 黑料吃瓜网 talk show team, newsroom, and were honored for their incredible work in Latino storytelling, demonstrating excellence in both local and regional journalism.

Award Highlights:

• The Wheelhouse won 3rd place in the Audio/Radio category for their episode "Focusing on Latino Communities in CT."
• Maricarmen Cajahuaringa, who was recently a reporter for 黑料吃瓜网鈥檚 Latino Communities initiative, took home 2nd place in the Print/Digital category for her story "黑料吃瓜网鈥檚 Undocumented Workers."
• Raquel Zald铆var, Visuals Journalist for the New England News Collaborative (NENC) secured 1st place for two pieces in the TV/Video and Photography categories, including "How chilly dipping in VT has deepened these Latinas鈥� connection to nature and each other," from the NENC鈥檚 Conexi贸n video series that brings first-person stories of Latinos spending time outdoors to inspire deeper connections; and the news story with partner station CAI, "A journey continues: migrants reflect one year after being flown to Martha鈥檚 Vineyard."
