Since Joe Biden became the president-elect, we鈥檝e heard a lot about the series of losses the Trump campaign has suffered in court as it scuffles to find a way to keep President Donald Trump in the White House. Less talked about, but perhaps more important, is the Trump White House鈥檚 string of losses in court regarding its efforts to neuter the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA. The latest win: A federal court last Friday ordered the Trump administration to reopen DACA to first-time applicants.
Among the groups that have been instrumental in handing these defeats to the Trump administration is the Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic at Yale Law School. Representing that group on All Things Considered was associate law professor Marisol Orihuela and law student Medha Swaminathan.
They talked about the immediate ramifications for undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children. They also talked about their expectations for DACA under a Biden administration and their fears for DACA under a conservative Supreme Court and Senate.
