The American Library Association (ALA) reported an 鈥渦nprecedented spike鈥� in book removal requests, documenting more than 470 during the final four months of 2021 in a preliminary tally. The ALA noted "a focus on books that address the voices and lived experiences of Black, Indigenous, and people of color and LGBTQIA+ individuals."
