The Center of Africana Studies at Central ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø State University held its 31st annual conference Thursday, celebrating African strength, culture, and how people can help be an ally for the Black community.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s congressional delegation and veterans advocates are criticizing a leaked internal memo revealing the federal government's plans to cut more than 80,000 Department of Veterans Affairs workers. There are an estimated 150,000 veterans living in the state.

The funding allows InterCommunity Health to serve an additional 2,000 city residents, according to Mayor Arunan Arulampalam.

One policy the organization hopes to advance in the state legislature is the Insurance Coverage for Biomarker Testing. The testing measures proteins in the blood or cerebrospinal fluid to help diagnose the disease.
